An INSMI–CNRS visiting research position (“poste rouge”) supports the stay of Abdoulaye Samaké, a researcher at the Université des Sciences, des Techniques et des Technologies de Bamako (USTTB) in Mali, at Cemosis / IRMA, University of Strasbourg, from late September to late November 2026.

Urban flood simulation

FLOOD studies geometric and physical modelling of flooding at neighbourhood and city scales. The work connects Ktirio Urban Building urban models with Feel++ numerical methods and parallel computing, accounting for terrain, buildings, streets and vegetation when simulating water flows.

The aim is to study water depths, velocities and flood arrival times, and contribute to urban risk mapping. The project is directly linked to Ktirio Urban Building and its geometric representations of cities.

Collaboration and support

The visit strengthens collaboration between LaMIA / USTTB in Bamako and IRMA (UMR 7501) in Strasbourg, working with Christophe Prud’homme and Vincent Chabannes.
